This year over $15,000 will be awarded to winning applicants who will be enrolled in the junior or senior year of an undergraduate program in any college or university in Rotary District 7450, or be residents of Rotary District 7450 who will be enrolled in the junior or senior year of an undergraduate program in a college or university anywhere, during the next academic year. Further, applicants must have outstanding academic records and have records of leadership in their schools, communities, and/or other settings. Applicants cannot be immediate close members of a Rotarians family. [Pastor Chris is a member]
Please contact me for applications. All applications must be submitted by January 15. Grants are paid to winning applicants between June and September for the fall term. Thank you for your help in identifying candidates and spreading Rotary goodwill.

MITTENS, HATS, SOCKS
Children and youth attending our Christmas Eve Services are encouraged to bring an offering gift of mittens, hats, gloves or socks. These gifts will be delivered to Lutheran Children & Family Services to be distributed to those in special need. To help offer a variety of sizes we ask when you are shopping to select the size your child would presently wear. Children will enjoy selecting an item or two they would like to share with another child their age! Thank you for your generosity and support of this Lutheran Organization!

This year's retreat, for youth in the 6th through 12th grade will be held March 6-9. The theme is "Jesus, Our Superhero." There is also plenty of time to make use of the excellent facilities including a large indoor pool and a huge gym, right on the bay in Harvey Cedars, (Long Beach Island, NJ.) More details will follow in the January newsletter, but hold the date and check out the following link http://www.gracelutheranroyersford.com/HarveyCedars/default.html.

INTERESTED IN SCOUTING
BOYS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 7 AND 17???
GIRLS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 14 AND 20???
You may not fully understand what would be involved, if your boy or girl was introduced to the Scouting world. I would be happy to answer any and all questions / concerns. If you would like to see how a Cub Scout Pack or Boy Scout Troop or a Venturing Group operate, I would be happy to take you to one of the Scouting programs for you to observe and ask questions. If interested, please contact Charlie MYERS, Unit Commissioner with the Chester County Boy Scouts – email
cdm41755@aol.com or phone 610.701-0599.

2015 ELCA Youth gathering in Detroit
The 2015 ELCA Youth Gathering in Detroit, a time of worship, study and service, where about 30,000 Lutherans from across the country will gather, will be held July 15-19. 2015. We sent a large group to this Gathering in 2012 and hope to repeat the experience next year. For information, please go to elca.org/gathering. To reserve your spot, a $100 non-refundable deposit needs to be made by June 15 this year. After June 15, the deposit increases to $150. We hope to secure transportation before the end of the summer and will have fund raising opportunities that should allow youth to cover most if not all of the remaining cost of the retreat. This deposit may be made online (see “Donate Now”), or by check.

ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
There are two main avenues for scholarships through Rotary.  The first can be accessed through the club website - http://www.westchesterrotary.us.  There's a tab for scholarships on the right hand side of the page.  I clicked it today, but it didn't come up so check it out at your leisure.  These scholarships are $2,500 each and are geared toward high school seniors active in service, in tune with the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self.  It may be limited to WCASD kids.

The other is through the Gundaker Foundation, which is our District's own Foundation.  They are $1k to 9k and are for high achieving kids with some financial need.  I was President of this Foundation a few years back, and the kids that received money were all rock stars. This is for students entering their Junior or Senior year.  There is a pot of money for Grad students too.  Here's the link for this - http://www.rotary7450.org/gundaker/programs.htm#Undergraduate

Konnect with Kids
Is planning regular outings throughout the year for parents, grandparents and family members of children preschool through the 5th grade.  It is a wonderful way to meet other parents and enable your children to get to know other children from Advent before they reach their teen years and begin participating in youth group!

Senior High Sunday School
with every third Sunday of the month, in the youth room.  Don’t miss these!!

Konnect with Kids

Konnect with Kids is led by Lisa Storniolo. Every month, Konnect with Kids offers a gathering for children preschool age through elementary school. Children come with their parents, grandparents or other family member. Recent events included a brunch with Santa complete with arts and crafts, a hike through Ridley Creek State park followed by time in the playground for a bagged lunch and then a quick trip to Yogo for frozen yoghurt on the way home. Planned events include movie/game nights and a Pirate Day. For more information about future events or to get more involved, contact Lisa Stornio at 610-565-3482, lstorniolo@yahoo.com.

Thank you from Advent’s ASP teams!
With your generous support and supplemental funding from the Chester County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, we were able to serve two families in Jackson, KY, making their homes warmer, safer, and drier. We could not have done it without you.
